Our bulldog has issues with skin infections, especially around her eyes. In a couple of weeks the infection went away. A much better alternative than to take her to the vet and spend a whole bunch of money! Love this product!

I rescue animals and foster rescued animals. I can't tell you how much it means to have access to antibiotics available for these often sick and suffering animals. If I had to take them to a vet every time one had an upper respiratory or tooth and mouth infections, I could not afford to get them back on their feet and adoptable. I never give antibiotics indiscrimately but when really needed....so good to have!!

A VERY GOOD PRODUCT
This is a very good product. I usually buy it 3 or 4 times a year. I personally use it and so does my family. it is regular medicine and works for all types of infection, save money from going to the doctor and having him write a prescription. it is called Fish Mox but all it is amoxicillin . if you need regular penicillin get Fish Pen it is the same exact thing, this is just a way of getting around the legal part of getting a prescription. this is the only way to get this stuff is by using Fish in front of the name, so use it, it is safe and the very same product that you would get from the doctor, as far as the other antibiotics with the fish name I don't know, but I do know that these 2 are the same as what you would get from your doctor, I've had absessed teeth and if it had not been for this stuff I would have died, thank God for it !!!

I use this antibiotic on my dogs. I have done so for years. This is the exact same prescription used for my dogs, by my Vet. It works very well.

Never use on other animals...
Exactly as described and works great as an antibiotic for fish but no matter what the other reviews say, DO NOT USE on any other animal but fish. If you're attempting to buy this as an antibiotic for any other animal, such as a dog, use at your own risk and I would highly recommend not doing so. It may cause a severe allergic reaction in your dog or worse. This should be a given but never use antibiotics for anything other than as described on the label! Always take your pet to the veterinarian if there is a problem!

we live in pgh pa and have been caught in a bad blizzard for over a week. my cats became sick w cat flu from a stray cat theyd been exposed too and due to the 4 ft of snow no vets in town were seeing animals.

my younger cat was recovering fine but my older female that caught it developed pneumonia and we were afraid she would die cause we couldnt find a vet anywhere in this weather and even if we had we couldnt get to one with the roads impassable in most areas .

it was suggested to me that this brand of fish antibiotics could help save her if i could get them shipped very fast as the cats condition wasnt very good .always be careful if giving fish meds to cats tho that you order a brand with no harmful additives as i have heard that some fish antibiotics do contain additives harmful to other pets but researched this brand and saw that it works fine on other animals provided you dose it by weight.

i ordered this product after calling to verify it was in stock as any delay could have been very bad for my cat. after i explained what was wrong the very helpful seller checked his stock and had it shipped right out and its in my hands already today. total time from order to reciept was only 2 days and we are thankful to have found this product available from a great seller :)

Best filter I've ever used.
I've never had a clearer aquarium in my life. Set up was simple, the filter did not leak a drop thus far. Easy cleaning, some of the best water conditions I've ever been able to provide for our fish. Only con I can add is the dvd provided did not work on my computer (running xp) but was easily able to find a youTube video with set-up procedure. I got a better price here on amazon than an aquarium wholesaler nearby. I have a 55 gallon corner tank, and the filter is probably overkill, but others I know who use it on their 300 gallon tank said they've only had to replace media one time over a period of a year. Will vary, I'm sure, on media you use, and amount of fish (they had quite a few in theirs!) I'd reccommend this filter to anyone, 55 gallon on up, it will provide a stunning environment for your fish. Simply the easiest, most efficient cannister filter I've ever seen. Not to mention Quiet! Only sounds I hear from my aquarium is the soft sounds of bubbles from the water pump I use to enrich oxygen. If that is off, and the door is closed on the cabinet...silence.

Excellant Filter!!!
I own two of these filters, one being 4 years old and the newest one, a month old. I have not had any problems with either of them. If you've had problems with yours, you probably got a lemon and should've returned it during the warranty period.

This filters has a lot of flow and the motor runs very quiet. I use one for a 75 gallon turtle tank and the older one for a 110 gallon fish tank but the FX5 is rated for up to 400 gallon tanks. I also own an Eheim Pro3 2080 (5.00 thru Absolutely Pets - Amazon.com) which I bought around the same time that I bought my first FX5. Eheims are the luxury cars of aquarium filtration and like luxury cars, you'll pay a pretty penny for them. But they'll last you for decades with virtually no problems...unless you get a lemon. But for the money, you cannot beat the Fluval FX5 and it outdoes the Eheim Pro3 in flow and mechanical filtration. The Eheim equivalent to the FX5 is the Eheim 2262. The 2262 is a powerhouse...even more so than the FX5...but at a premium. Are you ready for the price? 6.28 plus shipping (.41) from All Pet Depot (Amazon.com). That's actually a great price. It was originally 5.52 and this filter retails for over 0.00 at your local fish store.

So, if you're on a budget and you need mega filtration, for the money, the FX5 is the filter to consider. Currently, it is selling for 9.99 with free shipping thru Pet Supply Outlet (Amazon.com). It's gone down from 9.99 since I bought it. This filter retails for 9.99. If you're considering it, I'd get it now.

Now this is how a filter is supposed to work
I have had various filters before, several different ones in this tank. I use an Eheim 2227 wet and dry filter for digesting ammonia into nitrates but I need a good mechanical filter too. I also have a UV sterilizer, so anything that would grow in the water gets sunburn and dies. The tank contains four large african cyclids and a very large plecostomus. Between them they make a mess and the plec is always stirring up junk which then floats around for ages.

In the past I have used Marineland Magnum 350s and a Fluval 304. Neither of those really caught all the particles that were circulating in the tank. Neither of them had fine enough media to capture everything, they just recirculated the fine stuff. Adding the polishing filter to the 350 reduced the water flow substantially and resulted in an expensive and blocked filter element in the garbage after a few days, it did not provide any sort of long term solution.

Am am looking to move up to a bigger tank, something like 120-200 gallons from my current 65, so I was willing to consider filters that would be overkill. If there is such a thing. I had been looking at the FX5 for some time but had discounted it as too large. Reading other reviews I saw that although the headline flow rate is 925gph the rate drops to more like 600gph when stuffed with media. Well that's not that unreasonable for a 65 gallon tank. Finally, last Sunday I moved a few things in the tank and it ended up cloudy again. I had disturbed the gravel to add some plants and now the particles would be floating around for ages. The combination of under gravel filter and mechanical filter just weren't catching fine material. Short of washing all the gravel I didn't have a lot of options.

So I ordered the FX5 on Monday. By Tuesday afternoon it had been delivered, so much for 2nd day delivery, it took less than 24 hours to cross more than half the country.

I thought the A218 was the kit of the FX5 plus the pre-filter and biomax media, but those weren't mentioned so I also ordered the fine filter, polishing filter and the two boxes of media.

Assembling the filter body is easy. I took off the lid and removed the filter stack then washed all the foam blocks and replaced them. I rinsed off the pre-filter and biomax material and added them to the top and bottom baskets. I also added a media bag full of carbon above the biomax. In the middle I added a stack of fine mechanical filters, I put the polishing pad at the bottom, then hand cut two pieces of phosphate and ammonia absorbing material I had to hand for the middle and added the fine pad to the top. I re-stacked the baskets and returned them to the housing. After adding 2 gallons of water to give the pump something to work on, as stated in the instructions, I put the lid back on and secured it.

The supplied pipe should be enough for most normal installations, though having said that I only ended up discarding about two feet. But my tank and stand are fairly tall, probably 5'6" from the floor to the rim. I attached the two cut-off valves to the pipe then connected them to the filter which was in its intended location. I ran the pipes up to where they would enter the tank and cut them to the required length. I then clipped them to the tank lip fixtures and jammed the inlet and outlet on the end. The bottom of the inlet pipe has two suction cups to keep it in place, so I secured it to the inside of the tank.

OK. Ready to go. When I plugged in the filter it began slowly pumping out a mixture of water and fine bubbles. Oh... that's not what I hoped for. But they said it needed to prime and I expect there was about 3 gallons of air in the body, so let's leave it and see what happens. A few minutes later it stopped making noise and bubbles, moments later it belched out a stream of bubbles and the water level dropped a few inches. Ah. So that's the priming. A few minutes later, with one final large bubble, the filter started for real. No more bubbles and no sound that I could hear over the PC.

At this point my tank was a soupy mess. I had taken the opportunity to clean out the other filters and pump heads and that had disturbed a lot of fine particles that my other filters would not have caught. Ten minutes later it seemed to be improving. An hour later there wasn't much sign of anything floating in the water. This morning the tank is crystal clear.

In summary this filter works the way they all should. The pump is at the bottom, so it doesn't get noisy and cavitate when there is any air in the system, any bubbles that are present will mostly sit a foot above the pump at the top of the housing and cause no problems. Even those are allowed out by the daily purge.

One down side for the fish is that if they don't eat what I feed them then the filter will.

There are no real down sides to this setup. When it is full of water it is heavy but they provide two ways to drain it for servicing. The pipes all fit together well and all joints seal properly. The valves and connectors are easy to operate. The main pipe connectors have a double 'O' ring seal. The area of the first level of filtration is huge, basically the inlet water flows all round the outside of the stack of three baskets and filters in towards the core. Once through the foam filters it flows up to the top of the container and is sucked down through the three media baskets. At the bottom it is sucked in to the pump and that drives it up and out of the outlet. There's no way for any significant amount of water to pass through unfiltered.

Loaded the way I have it the flow rate is maybe 600gph. That isn't too much for this size of tank, though it's a lot more than most people use. The fish don't have any problems finding a relatively quiet spot, but there's a lot less chance of things actually stagnating than there used to be with my old units.

I considered this against the Eheim 2080. In the end I chose the FX5 because it flows more water and has larger mechanical filter area and I already have the biological side covered with the Eheim 2227. For me this was a good choice. If I find any issues in the long term I'll report back.

Fast shipping great buy.
The fx5 comes with hoses too. You will need to buy some carbon (at least) to get it up and running. Oh yea, and the pump is silent. One more thing make shure this big pump fits!!!

Great option for larger setups
I've been running the FX5 on a 125 gallon turtle setup for about two months now. Setup is very easy, especially if you have previous experience with canister filters. I saw another review that stated that the filter was noisy, but mine is pretty quiet even when the tank stand's door is open and the filter is exposed to the room. My flowrate has been relatively high, especially considering that it is packed with biomax and polishing pads. It is important to note that unlike other Fluval canisters, this beast actually filters water from top down, so you'll want your finer media like polishing pads in the bottom basket.

I docked a star because I am not a big fan of the design of the internal media baskets, nor do I like the cheap plastic 'T' rods that are used to pull them out. Also, despite the stop valves on the intake and outtake hoses, be ready to clean-up water when detaching for routine cleaning.

Although the Eheim Professional Canister Filters are arguably better for certain purposes, you aren't going to beat the value of the Fluval FX5. The features and specs you get are equivalent to several much more expensive filter options.

I previously owned the 105. I upgraded to a larger tank and needed a better filter, so I purchased the 305. The step by step instruction video was helpful. My tank looks so much better now that I have the appropriate filter in place.

AWESOME FILTER!!!!!
This filter rocks! It keeps my 54gallon corner aquarium crystal clear, and it is super quiet, and very easy to clean. I like how you can tailor what you put in each of the chambers, such as carbon, peat, ammonia remover etc. I have the 205 in my 38gallon tank & it's crystal clear as well. Improvements since the older models have made this even easier to use, while retaining the traditional benefits that this filter offers - consistent performance and great flexibility in selection of filter media. Mine came with a tiny crack in the housing that caused it to slowly leak a gallon or two of water onto the floor before I noticed, and the company promptly sent me a new part without making me take the whole thing apart and send it back. Good product, good service.

Hagan Fluval 305 Aquarium Filter
The first thing I noticed during the assembly process is that with the Hagen Fluval 305 Canister Filter there is exactly three times or 300% more filtration than my conventional filter. The second thing I noticed was that it is perfectly quiet. After two weeks, my tank is crystal clear. The assembly/installation was very easy and explained very well. I think that if you're serious about this hobby then it is the best way to go.

I am happy with its performance
I used to have Fluval 404, Fluval 304 and Marineland canister. This one wins them all When my last Fluval leaks ( after 5 years) the new Fluval price went up too high so that I have to look for a different one. I am very happy with this one and so far it runs better the Fluval and Marineland:

Pros:
1. Prime is easy and just a about 5-10 push it pumps out all air and start working, faster than priming the Fluval.
2. Simple setup, you dont have to do much work.
3. Price is very low compare to Fluval or other branch. Cheapest.
4. Quiet.

Cons:
1. None so far but I only used it for 2 months, dont know how long it will last.

Very happy, worth the money
I used to have the penguin bio-filter on the back of my tank and the noise from the water splashing was too loud for me at night as the 37gal tall tank is right there by my bed. i searched for many days for the right price and rating, and for my tank it could be over kill on the filter, but i hope to upgrade to a 55 wide saltwater someday, so i wanted a filter that could upgrade too and also be quite. coming from the filter itself, all you hear is a claiming buzz, like the sound of a air pump, in fact, the 40 to 50 gal Tetra Whisper Air Pump is actually louder then the filter and thats amazing, when i plugged the filter in it shoots out bubbles for the first 15min. then goes quite and how it will be normally. if you touch it or move it it shoots out air bubbles. i also have it out in the open and not in a cabinet like most ppl would, as my tank is on my dresser. if it was in a wooded cabinet i am almost 100% sure you wouldn't be able to hear it, when i have my xbox on the fan on that is louder then the filter, and during the daytime sounds and commotion you wont notice it. as for the spray head, i dint use the 90degree fitting or the other fitting and i have the one spray bar horizontal in my tank and the fish love the current, its very strong for my tank, the red tailed shark loves it, and i cant tell half the time if its running unless i look at my plants moving. The water will be clear as air in about 1 hour, it looks so beautiful being this clear and i wonder if there is even water in the tank, my tank has no backdrop, and the wall color would look faded with my old filter, and with this running the next day there is no color change when looking at the wall to looking at it through the tank, amazingly clear water, i will deff. buy from this brand as i can with these amazing results, and why a 4*'s out of 5? because the hoses were easy to hook up, when i have the suction cups holding the tubes in place, the heavy duty hoses want to go back too their wound up positions, but after wrestling with them and after some time they will fit to the new shape of being stressed out. wonderful product, and i was hurting to spend the money on this, but after seeing the air like water and how clear it is, its worth every penny

And very pleased with results. I only hear the sound of the water from the spray bar - the pump is pretty silent. I had a bit of difficulty with getting it started... but thanks to the reviews I was finally able to get it to work... Pumping the primer like CPR helped! I have only used it for one day - but we shall see how clear it keeps the tank. I have four Red-eared sliders in the tank... they are dirty!

Great Filter
I have owned two other higher priced filter systems in the past. They had seals and pumps that wore out quickly, and, when I tried to get the parts it was a nightmare extreme. I eventually threw them in the dumpster. I have not had to replace the pump or seals yet. I have owned this Cascade 1000 for about a year. The proceedure for priming after cleaning is open the exhaust first, plug in the motor, turn on the inlet, prime with the button until it runs clear ( about five pumps), and it is running smooth and without a sound. If you put your ear close you hear it run, but otherwise, more quite than any pump system I have owned. I use mine for a 30 gallon freshwater tank with a 3" cat, a 6" paleocostamus, and a 5" three spot ciclid. Once the tank righted itself, I have only changed the medium twice and one change of charcoal. The tank is crystal clear all the time for just over a year. This filter is fantastic so far. Try it you'll like it. THE PRICE IS RIGHT.

Penn Plax Cascade 1000
As a current owner of a smaller Penn Plax Cascade 500 model, I have been so impressed with the Cascade 500. So, when I need a bigger filter for my new and bigger tank, I stayed with Penn Plax, and ordered the Cascade 1000. This bigger model Cascade 1000 has the same solid build quality as expected from Penn Plax. The only issue I have with this Cascade 1000 is the noise level. With the Cascade 500, I have to get real close to the canister to hear the motor running, extremely quiet. I imagine that the Cascade 500 can be used in bed room. The Cascade 1000 is a different story. It works nicely, but with a much higher noise level. I could detect the motor running from 20ft away. I thought I got a defected unit, contacted Penn Plax, and they were very nice and send me a brand new motor with no charge. Unfortunately, the new motor produced the same noise level. So, I guess that's how noisy the Cascade 1000 makes. I think Cascade 1000 needs bigger motor to handle 100g, so it's noisier, not dead quiet like Cascade 500. The bottom line here is I would buy Cascade 500 again, again and again. But I may not buy Cascade 1000. It's a bit noisy for my taste. Maybe I am expecting a lot from such a big unit. I'd like to have this Cascade 1000 side-by-side with the Fluval 305 and test the noise levels. Cascade 1000 scores 3 stars out of 5, but good customer service from Penn Plax has earned its product another star.

Eheim=LEAKS
This long time Eheim fan has thrown in the wet towel! After too many leaks to count and customer service that won't sell you a one dollar o-ring to fix a 30 dollar assembly (or even tell you the specification of that o-ring) it's my opinion that Eheim has lost their pride. My canister filter has been nothing but a costly (sheet rock repair) headache... If you buy one don't forget to get a bucket to keep it in. All my opinion, of course.

Well worth the money
I just purchased a Eheim filter for my 125 gal tank. I already had a emperor 400 and a fluval 404 on the tank, but wanted to replace the fluval. I wasn't impressed with that filter. The eheim can't be beat. It is very quiet. I can't even hear it running. The only way to tell it is running is to watch the water movement. It has only been on the tank a week but I can already tell a difference. I am planning on purchasing a second one.

The only drawback is that the instructions are very difficult to follow. In fact they don't tell you step by step how to hook the filter up. Overall the extra hassle in installing it is worth it. Eheim's are quality filters that do not break down every other day. Money well spent.

The Perfect Filter
This is the best filter system we have had for our 80 gal. aquarium. It costs more than others, but absolutely worth it - very quiet and keeps water looking clear, clear, clearr

Fish prefer Eheim filters
The Eheim 2217 canister filter is a great workhorse. It provides mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration in a compact and nearly silent package. Like all external canister filters, it's best if you have an enclosed cabinet in your tank stand where it can be kept out of sight.

The instruction manual leaves a little to be desired. The illustrations are small and it's not always obvious which image goes which which instruction. However, once you sort out the various filter elements (coarse and fine filter pads, activated carbon pad, ceramic coarse mechanical filter material, and biological filter substrate) it's straightforward to get set up.

The filter comes with intake and outflow tubing as well as quick-disconnect valves for ease of cleaning. The filter stack must be mostly disassembled when replacing the filter pads, but it is neither complex nor overly time-consuming. The results speak for themselves: clear water, stable conditions, thriving fish. I'm very glad I bought the Eheim.

Fantastic Filter
This is my first month with the Ecco 2236 for my 55 Gallon Tank. I have a fully stocked shark tank and it keeps the water clean so long as I siphon 25% of the water once a week.

I would strongly recommend this canister filter to anyone. My simple filter (not canister) died & during the holiday weekend, no stores were open. A neighbor who had just moved in & was getting setup (no fish yet for him) said I could borrow his Eheim 2236. Keep in mind my 55 Gallon tank maybe a little over stocked with all the fish, plans, snails, and other things I have living in it & my filer had died maybe 2 days before, without me knowing it.

This little baby cleaned house in only a few hours!!!! This is a must buy for anyone who wants to keep a healthy tank.

One of the best so far.!
We've had aquatic turtles for about a year now, that we keep in a 75 gallon aquarium. (soon moving to a 125gal. tank) Anybody that keeps turtles knows how much work can be involved in keeping their tank clear and clean. When we first started we were unsure of what we needed to do the job but we knew we needed something that could keep up with the demand turtles require in water filtration. Our inquires at the local pet supply store led us to use a Fluval canister system. This is also a great system but after a short time we came to realize that it just wasn't enough so we went out and got a Marineland Magnum 350 to compliment the Fluval. Between the two the tank was adequately filtered, but cleaning the Magnum was a pain, the Fluval was a little easier but still not as user friendly as the Eheim. Because filtration was just adequate we started feeding the turtles in a separate smaller tank to try and minimize food and turtle feces from the main tank. This helped quite alot but we still required yet another filtration system as we had moved the Fluval to the smaller tank. This is when we purchased the Eheim 2236 system. This filter in my opinion is much easier to maintain than he Magnum and Fluval systems. The only down side is priming the pump after cleaning as the self priming feature does not work as well as the others but it is, by far, much much easier to disassemble and clean than the other two. Had the priming mechanism worked better I would have given this a 5/5. This is our second Eheim 2236. We had to replace the original because our child did not reestablish water flow after a cleaning, and the pump head overheated and died.

WORKS WELL FOR SALTWATER TANKS, EASY TO CLEAN
I own the Eheim Ecco External Canister Filter and use it with a medium size saltwater tank. It does a great job and only needs cleaned about once every 2-3 weeks and it's very easy to clean. It has very long hoses so you can hide it out of sight which is really nice. This unit is extremely quiet as well. This is a very good system for the price.

Fluval 405
I have had the Fluval 405 set up in my turtle tank for about a month now and it has worked wonderfully! It was a huge step up from the hang on the back filter I had before. I would highly recommend it to anyone with turtles.

I've had Fluval filters for years and only bought a new one because I could no loger get parts and accessories for my old ones. The siphon feature on this one is a real advance, but all ofthe plastic scares me. My experience is that plastic deteriorates and breaks with age. I suspect that the life expectancy othis fliter will be less than my old ones For the price, I would expect something more solidly constructed. IT's easy to hook up and has a great flow rate. More useful for fish than for aquatice reptiles though--The tank attachments are flimsy and I doubt they will last long. Not sure if I would buy this knowing what I know now!

Extremely pleased with the FLUVAL 405,,, very easy to set up, powerful yet quiet. I currently have it hooked up to a 50 gal fresh water tank and my water is spotless also my fish are very active and appear to be extremely healthy/bright, colorful & mating. Would highly recommend this filter. Cons,, none yet. GOOD LUCK!!!

So far so good
The filter got to us on time for a great price. Assembled easily and supplies good flow in tank. Using on a 50 gal very populated tank, filters seem to need cleaning more than I expected. Also clogged once that brought flow to a halt after only 1.5 weeks of service.
Overall a good mechanism for assemble and disassemble, except lid needs to be pried off instead of having a lever system (?)

The Quiet Cleaner
I just got the 405 about 2 months ago and I have no complaints. This filter is quiet, easy to use and it makes the water in my 130 crystal clear. I love my aqua clear HOB filters but the fluval 405 is steadfast becoming my favorite despite it's high price. PLUS my cichlids love the extra current :D

Great "insurance" for a healthy pond!!!
Good stuff. Yes, it does have a foul odor, but MicrobeLift PL works and it will really speed up the "cycle" on your new pond and create a balanced, healthy pond as well. I use it every spring to "kick start" the bio-filter as the pond water wakes up during the spring season. I've never had any sick fish, but I use PL as kind of an insurance for the health of my koi and goldfish. Catch it on sale every spring and it really isn't that expensive if it helps keep your fish healthy long term. I have peace of mind knowing that I'm doing everything that I can to keep my water crystal clear and maintain top notch water quality.

Pond Algae control
We have been looking for algae control for our koi pond for years. We use a small filtering system and have tried many products. We started using Microbe-Lift PL in April of this year. The product has for the most part controlled the algae without affecting the fish. There remains a thin layer of algae on the surface of the pond but the rest of the water remains clear. Note that along with the filter and Microbe-Lift we incorporate blue pond dye and have numerous water plants. We will continue to purchase this product until something better comes along.

Good Price. False "In Stock" Claim.
It's one of the best prices you can get for Microbe Lift PL in the gallon size. Anything in the upper 40s is generally a great deal. What seals the deal is how much they get you for shipping. In some cases, that can actually make the cheaper choice more expensive than going with a more reliable dealer.

Despite the fact that "That Fist Place" listed this item as IN STOCK ... it took them over a week to getting around to admitting that they were in fact out of stock and I would have to wait. Still waiting, in fact.

I buy a lot of this stuff. And it's expensive. And I'm accustomed, throough working with other retailers, to it taking about 5 days to a week to get the box with the new bottle inside. And I don't even mind waiting in some cases if I have the money to make two purchases in a mont ... AND THE STORE IS HONEST UPFRONT.

Is "That Fish Place" being dishonest by saying IN STOCK when they're not? Who knows really whether it was an oversight. I only know it was my first and last time dealing with them on this particular product. Because a pond crash due to waiting too long for bacteria is too serious for me to risk dealing with someone I don't know whether I can rely on them or not. You have to make that choice yourself.

Bio Cleaner
Had been using very expensive product, so thought I would try this one as you use less per application and it was cheaper. Seems to populate pond with good bacteria, but smells like rotten eggs. The bottle needs to be stored outside in well ventilated area. If you can get past the smell, it's a good product.
