Buy Sale Eheim Canister Filter Classic Plus 2217

Eheim=LEAKS
This long time Eheim fan has thrown in the wet towel! After too many leaks to count and customer service that won't sell you a one dollar o-ring to fix a 30 dollar assembly (or even tell you the specification of that o-ring) it's my opinion that Eheim has lost their pride. My canister filter has been nothing but a costly (sheet rock repair) headache... If you buy one don't forget to get a bucket to keep it in. All my opinion, of course.

Well worth the money
I just purchased a Eheim filter for my 125 gal tank. I already had a emperor 400 and a fluval 404 on the tank, but wanted to replace the fluval. I wasn't impressed with that filter. The eheim can't be beat. It is very quiet. I can't even hear it running. The only way to tell it is running is to watch the water movement. It has only been on the tank a week but I can already tell a difference. I am planning on purchasing a second one.

The only drawback is that the instructions are very difficult to follow. In fact they don't tell you step by step how to hook the filter up. Overall the extra hassle in installing it is worth it. Eheim's are quality filters that do not break down every other day. Money well spent.

The Perfect Filter

Fish prefer Eheim filters
The Eheim 2217 canister filter is a great workhorse. It provides mechanical, biological, and chemical filtration in a compact and nearly silent package. Like all external canister filters, it's best if you have an enclosed cabinet in your tank stand where it can be kept out of sight.

The instruction manual leaves a little to be desired. The illustrations are small and it's not always obvious which image goes which which instruction. However, once you sort out the various filter elements (coarse and fine filter pads, activated carbon pad, ceramic coarse mechanical filter material, and biological filter substrate) it's straightforward to get set up.

The filter comes with intake and outflow tubing as well as quick-disconnect valves for ease of cleaning. The filter stack must be mostly disassembled when replacing the filter pads, but it is neither complex nor overly time-consuming. The results speak for themselves: clear water, stable conditions, thriving fish. I'm very glad I bought the Eheim.
